Physical Education

1 Timothy 4:8
"Training your body is of some value, yes, but don't sacrifice it at the expense of your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control. May your movement flow from the fruit of the Spirit, which will last forever."

The subject leader for Physical Education is Mr. S.Beaumont

At St Annes, our intention for Physical Education (PE) is to provide a comprehensive and inclusive programme that promotes lifelong physical activity, health, and well-being among all pupils. We aim to develop confident, competent, and physically literate individuals who appreciate the value of an active lifestyle. Our curriculum is designed to:

  • Promote Physical Literacy: Ensure all pupils acquire the fundamental movement skills necessary for a wide range of physical activities and sports.
  • Cultivate Personal and Social Skills: Instil values such as teamwork, resilience, respect, and sportsmanship, enabling pupils to navigate social interactions both on and off the field.
  • Encourage Healthy Lifestyles: Foster an understanding of the importance of physical activity, healthy eating, and mental well-being, empowering pupils to make informed lifestyle choices.
  • Inclusive Participation: Guarantee that every pupil, regardless of ability, is provided equal opportunities to participate, progress, and excel in PE activities.

At St Annes, we use PE passport as our scheme of work. PE passport allows for all children to access quality PE lessons with a clear focus on progression of skill. Skills are taught sequentially and recapped over a key stage to develop mastery of the skills.
