It is very important that all children bring a hat to protect their heads from the sunshine whilst playing outside and a water bottle to keep hydrated. Please can parents also ensure that sun cream is applied daily at home before your child comes to school, as this protects any skin exposed to the sun.
The phonics screening tests are taking place the week beginning 10th June to the 21st June for children in Year 1 and any Year 2 children that were unsuccessful last year.
No appointments or holidays should be taken during this time.
Reception will be visiting Smithills Farm on Tuesday 20th May. The coach will be leaving school at 9am and will be returning to school in time for the children to be collected as normal.
All children must be dressed in their school uniform with suitable footwear, ideally wellies and a waterproof coat. If the weather continues to be nice, please apply sun cream before school and provide a sunhat/cap.
Parents and carers are invited to attend Year 1’s class assembly on Friday 10th May at 9:05am.
During SATs week, we would like to invite children from Year 6 to attend breakfast club for free. We believe that this will help prevent children from being late to school during such an important time.
If any children in Year 6 have siblings that wish to attend breakfast club during SATs week are also able to attend, free of charge.
Year 6 SATs will take place next week from the 13th to the 16th May. School will provide all equipment, pens, pencils etc. It is very important that children are on time to school and do not have any appointments.

SATs are important as secondary schools now ‘set’ children on these results so; we want you to do well.
On Tuesday 7th May, Year 5 will be performing in a ‘Music from the Movies’ concert at King George’s Hall, Blackburn. The concert is organised by Our Lady’s and St John’s Catholic College and it is FREE admission on the night.
The concert starts at 6pm and should finish for 7:45pm.
