Transition Information
Nursery - Reception Transition
To support the children and their families to have a smooth transition into our school, we do the following:
We hold a 'stay and play' session in the Summer Term before children start school.
Parent Information Evening in the Summer term for new families to meet our school leaders and staff.
Shared conversations with child minders and other nurseries.
We attend the Blackburn with Darwen Transition meetings.
Transition books to support change and new beginnings. We welcome information on the children's likes and dislikes.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal. For children in the years above this who pay, the cost is £2.50 a day or £12.50 a week.
If you receive certain qualifying benefits, you may be entitled to claim Free School Meals.
Free Meal Entitlement Criteria
Free School Meals is a benefit awarded in respect of children under the age of 19 where the parent or guardian is in receipt of one of the benefits shown below:
- Income Support;
- Income Based Jobseekers Allowance (IB JSA);
- Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999;
- Child Tax Credit
- The Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit.
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Working Tax Credit (only during the 4 week period immediately after their employment finishes).
