Chaplains

Autumn Term 2 Week 6

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Let Us Pray… In Our Own Way: Singing” as we continue our journey through the 2nd Week of Advent (Year A).

📖 Our key scripture was Matthew 3:1–12, where John the Baptist calls us to prepare our hearts and make room for Jesus.

🎶 Inspired by St Augustine’s teaching that “to sing is to pray twice,” we were reminded that singing allows us to bring our thoughts, feelings and faith to God. We can sing with joy and celebration, with sorrow and searching, with thanksgiving and awe.

🌟 This week, our worship was inspired by St Lucy, whose hope-filled faith and kindness encourage us to share Christ’s light with others during Advent.

🙏 Today we prayed and sang together as we prepared our hearts for Jesus’ coming. We reflected on the Gospel message and lifted our voices in “Calypso Christmas” as our sung prayer of praise.

Autumn Term 2 Week 5

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Let Us Pray… In Our Own Way: Singing” as we began the 1st Week of Advent (Year A).

📖 Our key scripture was Matthew 24:37–44, reminding us to stay awake, be ready, and prepare our hearts for Jesus’ coming.

🎶 We learned once again from St Augustine that “to sing is to pray twice.” When we sing, we share our thoughts, feelings and faith with God — through joy, celebration, sorrow, searching, thanksgiving and awe. Singing helps us to worship God and reminds us that He is always worthy of our praise.

🌟 This week we were inspired by St Nicholas, whose hope-filled faith and kindness to others encourage us to be generous and loving during Advent.

🙏 Today we prayed and sang together, getting our hearts ready for Jesus’ coming. We reflected on the Gospel and lifted our voices in “O Little Town of Bethlehem” as our prayer of worship.

Autumn Term 2 Week 4

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Let Us Pray… Inspired by the Saints” as we celebrate The Solemnity of Christ the King (Year C).

👑 Throughout the week, we have been celebrating and praising Jesus our King, joining our voices with the angels and saints who worship Him in heaven.

🙏 Today, we looked to the example of some of the saints whose feast days the Church celebrates this week. Their lives remind us how to follow Jesus with courage, faith and love.

🌟 We especially focused on St Catherine of Alexandria, whose wisdom and bravery inspire us to stand strong in our faith and to use our gifts for God’s glory.

💫 In our prayer time, the children created prayers inspired by the saints, asking for their guidance as we continue to follow Jesus, our King.

Autumn Term 2 Week 3

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “I Trust in Jesus” as we continue in the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time (Year C).

📖 Our key scripture was Luke 21:5–19, where Jesus prepares His disciples for challenging times but reminds them that He will always be with them.

🙏 Our prayers this week have been inspired by the Litany of Trust from the Sisters of Life. The children have reflected each day on what it means to place their trust in Jesus — especially when things feel difficult or uncertain.

💫 Through stillness, prayer, and Scripture, we have been reminded that Jesus is always there for us, guiding us, strengthening us, and helping us to hold onto hope.

Autumn Term 2 Week 2

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Let Us Pray… In Our Own Way: Lectio Divina” as we celebrated The Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (Year C).

📖 Our key scripture was 1 Corinthians 3:9c–11,16–17, where St Paul reminds us that we are all temples of the Holy Spirit.

🙏 This week we have been learning to pray with the Scriptures, allowing God to speak to us through His Word. This special way of praying, called Lectio Divina (divine reading), helps us to listen deeply and reflect on what God is saying to us.

💫 We have thought about how we can make room in our hearts for the Holy Spirit — to fill us, guide us, and inspire our words and actions. Today we listened to St Paul’s message and reflected on what God wants to reveal to us through the Scriptures.

🙏 This week we have been learning to pray with the Scriptures, allowing God to speak to us through His Word. This way of praying is called Lectio Divina, which means divine reading. Through this special form of prayer, we have spent time with Jesus, listening for the blessings He wants to reveal to us.

📖 Our key scripture was Luke 18:1–8, which reminds us to pray always and never lose heart.

🙏 Through their prayers this week, the children have been reminded that God’s love never fails, never gives up, and never runs out on us. We are encouraged to keep trusting in God’s immense love and to stay close to Him through prayer.

💫 As a school community, we give thanks for God’s unfailing love and ask for the strength to keep praying with hope and faith.

Autumn Term Week 7

🎶 This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Sing to the Lord!” as we continue in the 28th Week of Ordinary Time (Year C).

📖 Our key scripture was Psalm 98(97):1,2–3b,3c–4, which calls us to “Shout to the LORD, all the Earth… sing out your praise!”

St Augustine taught that “to sing is to pray twice.” When we sing, we share our faith and express our love for God through joy, gratitude, and praise. This week we have celebrated God’s love for us by singing together and remembering that He made us so we can know and love Him too.

Today we rejoice and give thanks for God’s endless love, lifting our voices together in worship and praise!

Autumn Term Week 5

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship to share with us about the Liturgical Year: 26th Week in Ordinary Time (Year C) and the theme: "Let Us Pray… Inspired by the Saints and Holy Angels."

📖 Our worship focused on the messages of the prophets and the important role of God’s angelic messengers. We especially reflected on Saint Michael the Archangel, a powerful symbol of God’s protection and strength.

🙏 Our prayers this week were inspired by the saints and holy angels. We gave thanks to God for:
✨ The courage of the prophets
✨ The protection of Saint Michael
✨ God’s presence in our daily lives

🌟 Today, we ask Saint Michael to help us stand up for what is right and to guide us in listening to God’s call.

Autumn Term Week 4

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship with the theme “Inspired by the Saints” as we continue in the 25th Week of Ordinary Time (Year C).

🙏 Throughout the week, we have been praying for all people, exploring different prayer styles together. Today, we reflected on the example of the saints – people who shared their faith through their lives and service to God.

🌟 We especially focused on St Cleopas, who met Jesus on the Road to Emmaus. His story reminds us that Jesus walks alongside us in our daily lives too.

As the Catholic Church celebrates the lives of saints this week, we give thanks for their example and pray that we may also share our faith with joy.

Autumn Term Week 3

✨ This week our Chaplains led Key Stage worship to share with us about the Liturgical Year: The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (Year C).

📖 Our key scripture was Psalm 78:1-2, 7, which reminded us of the importance of listening to God’s word and placing our trust in Him.

🙏 Our prayers have been inspired by this Psalm – prayers of gratitude for all that God has given us. We have thanked God for:
✨ Jesus in our lives
✨ Our family and friends
✨ Our school community

🌍 Today, we especially give thanks for the gift of our world and everything in it.

#FaithInAction #SchoolCommunity #ExaltationOfTheHolyCross

🙏 In their prayers this week, the children are inviting the Holy Spirit to:

✨ Look forward with hope and excitement

💫 A beautiful way to begin the new term together as a school community, trusting in God’s guidance every step of the way.

Autumn Term Week 1

This week our chaplains gathered for their very first planning meeting of the year! ✨ Together, they prayerfully reflected on the Scriptures that will guide our community: Wisdom 9:13-18b and Luke 14:25-33.

Grounded in the theme “Lead Us to God”, they began shaping a liturgy that will help us deepen our faith, grow in wisdom, and walk courageously as disciples of Christ.

Please keep our chaplaincy team in your prayers as they continue preparing to lead us in worship and reflection in the weeks ahead. 🙏
