EAL (English as an Additional Language)
At St Anne’s R.C. Primary School, we are proud to support our diverse community, with 71% of our pupils identified as having English as an Additional Language (EAL). We are committed to ensuring that every pupil, regardless of their language background, can access a broad and balanced curriculum and achieve their full potential. Our dedicated staff use a range of tailored strategies to support language development, including targeted interventions, visual aids such as Widgit symbols, and adaptive teaching approaches that meet pupils’ individual needs. We foster an inclusive environment where pupils feel valued and confident to express themselves, while also encouraging parental involvement to strengthen language acquisition both at school and home. Through ongoing professional development, our staff continually enhance their expertise in EAL provision to ensure high-quality teaching and learning for all. This commitment helps our EAL pupils thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within our Catholic community.
