Reading Ambassadors
📚 Welcome to the Reading Ambassadors' Page at St Anne’s Primary School 📚
At St Anne's RC Primary School, we believe that reading is the gateway to learning, imagination and lifelong success. Our Reading Ambassadors play a vital role in promoting a love of reading across the school community.
Who Are Reading Ambassadors?
Reading Ambassadors are enthusiastic, responsible pupils who are passionate about books and reading. They are selected from across the school to act as role models and reading champions, helping to inspire their peers and support reading initiatives.
📖 What Do They Do?
Our Reading Ambassadors take on a variety of exciting responsibilities, including:
• Promoting a Reading Culture: Encouraging others to read for pleasure and sharing book recommendations.
• Supporting Younger Readers: Listening to younger pupils read and helping them build confidence.
• Organising Events: Helping to plan and run book fairs, reading challenges, and World Book Day celebrations.
• Library Helpers: Assisting in the school library by organising books and helping classmates find great reads.

🌱 Why It Matters
By empowering pupils to take an active role in promoting reading, we foster leadership, communication skills, and a sense of responsibility. Most importantly, our Reading Ambassadors help create a school environment where reading is celebrated and enjoyed by all.
What are we working on?
Our Reading Ambassadors are passionate about making reading enjoyable for everyone. We believe that reading for pleasure is key to developing lifelong learners and confident communicators.
There’s lots happening at St Anne’s as we continue to inspire a love of reading across school. Our Reading Ambassadors have been busy launching a class library competition. The winning class will receive a Waterstones voucher to spend on new books for their library – how exciting!
We’ve also been delighted to receive a delivery of books from local author Ian Rigby, which we can’t wait to share with the children. Our Reading Ambassadors are taking part in the Royal Society of Young People’s Book Prize, reading and reviewing books as part of this national initiative.

As part of National Storytelling Week, and EYFS and KS1 pupils will be enjoying a virtual author visit from Ian Brown. We’re also busy preparing for World Book Day, which will include a book swap and a chance for children to come to school dressed as a book character or in their pyjamas for our ‘bedtime stories’ theme.

Children will have the opportunity to visit Waterstones for storytelling sessions, and we’re also looking forward to welcoming the Lancashire Library Service to school.
So many wonderful opportunities for our children to celebrate reading – watch this space!
We have been working hard reorganising our school library to create a welcoming, engaging space where every child can discover books they love. Our goal is to make it easier for pupils to find exciting stories, explore new genres, and feel inspired to read more often.
Stay tuned for updates as we transform our library into a vibrant hub for imagination and learning!
We have introduced a whole school reading reward system called 'Reading Champions', to promote home reading. If a child reads at home three times, they receive a Reading Champion stamp and 5 Class Dojos for their house.
We have ordered over 500 new books for EYFS and KS1 home reading and guided reading sessions.
