Autumn Term

 

 

In Year One we  use the Come and See Catholic Primary RE Programme.

 

Families

The children will EXPLORE the love and care in their families and understand how

God's love and care for every family is REVEALED. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Belonging

The children will EXPLORE belonging to different groups and and understand that baptism is an opportunity to belong to God's family- REVEAL.  As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Waiting

The children will EXPLORE how at times it is necessary to wait and think about how we use that time and learn how Advent is a time of waiting to celebrate Jesus' birth at Christmas- REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

 

We will use ideas from Caritas in Action, Education and Formation in the Social Teaching of the Catholic Church to help the children think about how we can help to create a just society and uphold the dignity of all of God’s family.

Spring Term

Special People

The children will EXPLORE how there are special people in their lives who are there to help and that on Sunday in church we meat people who do special jobs as we gather to celebrate the Good News of Jesus- REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Meals

The children will EXPLORE how families and groups share special meals and learn that Mass is Jesus' special meal- REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Change

The children will EXPLORE how they change and grow and learn that Lent is a time to change in preparation for the celebration of Easter- REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

Summer Term

 

Holidays and Holydays

The children will EXPLORE how holidays are days to be happy and learn about Pentecost as a holy day the feast of the Holy Spirit- REVEAL.  As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Being Sorry

The children will EXPLORE how we always have a choice and learn how God always helps us to choose well and to be sorry and that He always forgives us -REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

Neighbours

The children will EXPLORE how we have neighbours all around and learn that everyone is our neighbour and is loved by God-REVEAL. As they RESPOND they will acquire skills of assimilation, celebration and application.

 

The children will also study Islam and Judaism for one week during the course of the year.

Phonics And Reading Scheme

At Saint Anne's we use the Read Write Inc. scheme for phonics.

Our reading scheme is a banded scheme made up of books from both Oxford Reading Tree and Big Cat Phonics.  There are some books from other schemes but all have been banded using the Oxford Reading Tree colours.
